Who is on the Acting DRE Search Committee?
The members of the search committee are Rev. Joan Javier-Duval (co-chair), Abby Colihan, Kristin Glaser, Mara Iverson, Jen Miller-Arsenault (co-chair), Art Stukey, and Noah Witke.
What is the timeline for the search process?
The job opening will be posted in early March and the search committee will begin reviewing applications on March 31. We hope to conduct interviews in April and make a recommendation to the Executive Team and Board by early to mid-May.
When will the new Acting DRE start?
The position will begin on August 1, 2016.
Why are we hiring an “acting” DRE?
With Sally’s retirement, the 2016-2017 church year will be a time of transition and the responsibilities of the Acting DRE will reflect that. In addition to maintaining and directing the RE program, the Acting DRE will also spend the year helping us to re-envision our religious education programming for all ages and determining what kind of RE staffing structure is best suited for our needs.
What if we really like the Acting DRE? Can this person stay on as our settled DRE?
It is possible that the person we hire for the one-year Acting DRE position would be considered for the settled DRE position. Whether this is likely will be clearer once we’ve hired someone and had time to assess what we really need and are looking for in a settled DRE.
How do I share my input with the search committee?
The Acting DRE Search Committee will host an open forum on Sunday, March 20 from 11:30am-12:30pm for congregants to share their thoughts about the future of UCM’s religious education programming and staff leadership. If you cannot attend the forum, you can also share your thoughts via an online survey.
