December Update from the UCM Board

Greetings Members and Friends of UCM,

At December’s board meeting,  Financial Officer Fran Dodd led the board through her initial review of the church’s financial procedures. This type of review has not occurred in many years and is well-timed with the retirement of our congregational administrator, Sam Rossier. We are  thankful to Fran for her thoughtfulness and diligence with this task and to all the staff and volunteers who are assisting her.

Sam will be retiring at the end of December, after 28 years of service to UCM.  You can write him a thank-you on his kudoboard or on cards in the vestry after services and contribute to his retirement gift through John Poeton.  We continue our hiring search for a new Congregational Administrator. The position description can be found here.

You may have noticed Board Member Hugo Liepmann at coffee hour, soliciting conversations about some topics the board has been pondering, including the installation of heat pumps in UCM’s building and removing the word ‘church’ from the name of this faith community.  Many thanks to those who have shared their thoughts on these topics. We encourage everyone to continue to think about them and share your thoughts with each other and board members.  For more questions that your board has been asking, read our November letter.

For more detailed information about the goings-on of your governing board, read the minutes from our meetings.

In peace,

UCM’s Governing Board: Meredith Warner, Vic Guadagno, Denise Bailey, Joel Dennison, Fran Dodd, Hugo Liepmann, Ansel Ploog
