How much has changed, and yet how tightly-woven our UCM community remains! As we have reached out to help each other recover and rebuild, I’ve been reminded time and again of what it means, “Being Together in Beloved Community.”
As we return to our building this week, and re-learn over again how to adjust and be flexible and embracing of change, I would like to extend a special invitation to you all — I hope that you will consider signing up to volunteer with our Hospitality Team, as a Barista (making & serving Coffee and Tea), Greeter, or Usher — you may sign up for just one or two Sundays a month, or every other month, as you’re available, and you’ll meet and re-connect with so many new and familiar people. We especially need new and returning Baristas to sign up for shifts so that we will have Coffee for Coffee Hour!
In my role as Congregational Life Coordinator, I am especially looking forward to welcoming newcomers, both life-long UUs moving here from elsewhere, and those just now discovering Unitarian Universalism and becoming familiar with who we are and what we’re all about. A number of you have already introduced yourselves on Zoom, through our online Welcome Form, or at our recent Worship Services at the North Branch Nature Center! We’re so glad to have you here with us, and hope to help you feel at home.
Whether you’re a newcomer or a long-time Friend of UCM, you’re all invited to our upcoming “New UU” Classes, “UU History and Theology,” and “All About UCM.” Save the dates, Wednesday, November 1 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, and Saturday, November 4 from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM (with a building tour to follow). Watch our weekly e-news and visit our Membership & Hospitality Table during Coffee Hour on Sundays for more information.
We will also have a Fall Activities Fair during Coffee Hour on November 5, where you’ll be able to stop by tables and chat with leaders from our many church ministries, programs, committees, and teams. There are so many ways to be connected and supported this Fall!
If you’re considering joining UCM as an official voting Member this Church Year, we invite you to join us for our “New UU” classes, and/or to dive deeper on your own spiritual journey toward Membership through our Five Pathways to Membership program.
Finally, I hope you know you can always easily access recent weekly e-newsletters here, and watch (or re-watch) recent Worship Services here! You may also connect with us by following our public Facebook Page, or requesting to join our private Facebook Group.
If you have any questions about how you might connect more deeply or differently with our community, in new and meaningful ways, please reach out to me.
Welcome Home!
Elaine Ball — Congregational Life Coordinator
