Post-Flood Reopening: What to Expect

Post-Flood Reopening: What to Expect — October 2023

We are so glad to be reopening the Unitarian Church of Montpelier building at 130 Main Street the weekend of October 14-15 after thirteen long weeks of clean-up, repair, and restoration!

Our Sunday morning worship services will return to the church sanctuary at 10 AM on Sunday, October 15. Please note that the elevette motor was destroyed in the flood, and we will be working on replacing the entire unit. For the time being, the sanctuary will only be accessible using the stairs found at the Main Street entrance. A live stream of the service will be viewable in the Fireplace Room as well as from your home or any other location via our YouTube channel.

Children and youth spiritual exploration programming will take place in the upstairs classrooms as well as the current downstairs Preschool/Kindergarten room. Nursery care for infants and toddlers will be available in the nursery found in the office wing on the first floor.

We will hold Coffee Hour after the service in the Vestry. Please sign up here if you are available to help make & serve Coffee and Tea!

We have completed extensive clean up, repair, and mold remediation throughout the building to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all visitors. Further details on our flood recovery work can be found here and notes about mold remediation in particular can be found here

Repairs and restoration continue in some parts of the building. The School Street entrance and back stairwell in the addition will be getting new flooring in the coming weeks. The kitchen is being assessed for its usability and for now is off limits. Please do not enter or pass through the kitchen for the time being. To access the Fireplace Room, enter through the Vestry. To access the upstairs classrooms, please pass through the office wing.

We look forward to having our congregation bringing energy and love back to our beloved building!
