Adult Spiritual Exploration ~ Spring 2024

My Grandmother’s Hands Study Group Offered

UCM’s Adult Spiritual Exploration Team and Racial Justice Group are partnering with The Everything Space to offer a 9-week study group series based on My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies, by Resmaa Menakem. The group will be professionally facilitated by Hazel Turrone, a local holistic health practitioner. It will focus on ways of healing both racially-based trauma and other kinds of trauma.

This series is for white people. It will meet in person at UCM (130 Main Street) from 7:00 – 8:30 PM on Wednesdays from April 17 through June 12. The Everything Space requests payment on a sliding scale from $150 to $500 for the series. The cost pays for experienced facilitation and includes a gift of reparations to cover the cost of the BIPOC version of the study group, and a donation to a Vermont-based racial equity cause. UCM will pay the minimum fee for the first seven people to sign up. You are encouraged to also contribute individually as you are able on the sliding scale. If cost is a barrier for you, please contact either Rev. Joan or Judith Hinds to ensure that your fee is covered from UCM’s Adult Spiritual Exploration budget. UCM will buy copies of the book for all participants who request it and who sign up by March 31 (so that we have time to order books).
