Fall 2024 Letter from UCM’s Holiday Fair Team

The 2024 UCM Holiday Fair is the first weekend in December, Friday and Saturday December 6 and 7, 2024. This all church event is the largest fundraising event of the church year and is supported by church members, friends and the greater Central Vermont community.

This unique event has been held annually for more than 125 years and unlike most modern fairs today has no outside vendors but it does have more than nine theme areas devoted to home made baked goods and food, cookies, jewelry, children’s books, plants, arts & crafts, and very fresh pecans, just some of the items that will be available. Jo Romano and Janet Poeton are the chairpersons for this outstanding event and planning is underway now.

Volunteers are the essence and heart of a successful UCM Holiday Fair. More than 50 volunteers are needed and you could have the joy and celebration of being one of them. This huge two day fair during the holiday season is planned for months by a team of experienced committee leaders.

The following is a list of present needs:

1. There is need for a person or 2 to Chair the Wreath Committee. Wreathes are purchased undecorated and then decorated in the Vestry 2 or 3 days before the fair by a “team of merry makers.” This work is fun, exacting and rewarding but they need a leader. Is that you? Contact Jo or Janet ASAP!

2. Crafts and any items that are homemade are always best sellers. These items usually take time and energy. The Fair does not sell craft tables, but if you are able and willing to make items to donate to the Holiday Fair it is always appreciated. Contact Jo or Janet if you have any questions. Now is the time to plan ahead and create. Is that you?

3. Do you just love to bake or make desserts, cookies, cakes, rum balls, or baked beans? You can contribute these items and more to a HF food table. Don’t wait for a telephone call or email ~ email or call Sandal Cate today and tell her you will like to make something for the Holiday Fair food table. It is never too early. Is that you?

4. Do you have any slightly used or almost new children’s toys or books or holiday items around the house that you may never use again? Material like this may make for a great Christmas gift for someone else. Donate these to the UCM Holiday Fair so that they can be purchased by others. Is that you?

5. Plan ahead to volunteer at a Holiday Fair table for 2 or 3 hours on the days of the fair, help to organize before or after the fair, or to
clean up after that Sunday’s service. Is that you?

Plan ahead. Mark your calendar. Create. Lead. Be a volunteer at the UCM all-church 2024 Holiday Fair: Friday and Saturday December 6 & 7, 2024. See you at the Fair ~ John Poeton & the Holiday Fair Team
