May Community Pouch Recipient: Central Vermont Refugee Action Network (CVRAN)

CVRAN has a broad-based support network of local volunteers who assist refugees and asylum seekers with wrap-around services that include English language lessons, education and career support, legal services, transportation, driving lessons, and social and community connection. We initially pay for all needs, including housing, food, and medical care. We use a gradual approach integrating immigrants into the community. As New Vermonters achieve financial and social stability, we gradually taper our assistance. In 2025, we have already welcomed 12 New Vermonters (8 adults and 4 children) from 6 different countries.

The Central Vermont Refugee Action Network (CVRAN) welcomes and provides support to refugees and asylum seekers fleeing persecution and danger.

 

Vision Statement: 

Our vision is to build, in partnership with others, a vibrant, inclusive global community in Central Vermont, where refugees and asylum-seekers find hope, engagement, empowerment, and a strong sense of belonging.
