Letter from Director of Music, Donia Prince – Fall 2025

Sometimes the best news is familiar news . . . we started Choir rehearsals on September 4th and it’s wonderful to have all of the beloved familiar faces and voices back together ~ and we would also love to welcome new faces! Let me know if you might be interested or have any questions about whether Choir might be a good fit for you. We rehearse at UCM every Thursday at 6:00 PM – please stop by!

Joining us this Fall is our new pianist, Sara Huff. Beyond being an accomplished pianist and organist, Sara’s enthusiasm for working with the entire worship team to help create comforting, inspiring, and joyful worship experiences has been a real gift. Come and say hello to her.

In these fearful and challenging times, music, with its unique ability to bring balance, peace, inspiration, and joy is so important.

Two of my goals this year to enhance the musical life of our community are:

First, to reinstitute a music committee consisting of members beyond the Choir. The aim of this group would be to consider and support ways we might incorporate music into our church life.

Second, both Sara and I would love to work with instrumentalists of all sorts to develop our own “worship band,” people who would occasionally like to accompany updated arrangements of hymns, choir offerings or provide other special music. Drummers, bass and guitar players would be most welcome but really anything goes!

I’ll be making more direct invitations for both of these initiatives once we get settled into the year, but if you are interested or have any questions, get in touch.

Looking forward to seeing and singing with you on the 14th,

~Donia Prince, Director of Music, Unitarian Church of Montpelier
