Becky Atchinson
After nearly 5 years of service as UCM’s Office Assistant/Rental Coordinator, Becky Atchinson will be retiring from her position at the end of this church year (her last day of work will be June 23, 2021). Becky lives in Plainfield with her husband Bob, Jack the dog, and Cleo the cat. In her adult life, she’s lived in Montpelier, Middlesex, the Northeast Kingdom, and several short stints in New Hampshire. Most of her childhood was spent in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, where she learned to love the country, hills, and mountains. She has 3 grown children and (presently) 3 grandchildren, all of whom thankfully live in New England. She has extensive experience in administration with the state and several nonprofit organizations.
House design, particularly as it relates to energy and use of space efficiencies, is a long time interest of hers. She and her husband built a 5+ Star energy efficient house 13 years ago and enjoy reaping its ongoing rewards. They also own, operate, and maintain a 5-unit apartment building where their collective expertise, talents, and patience are constantly being tested.
Becky is a member of the Plainfield Conservation Commission and has been the town’s Green Up Day coordinator for nearly 10 years. Local and statewide issues that involve elders, climate change, and energy independence interest her as do canoeing, walking, bird watching, RV camping, concerts, theater performances, and lectures. She loves to garden and is constantly trying new techniques to keep the deer from reaping the rewards of her work.
