December 21, Turning Toward the Light

Across time and culture, the Winter Solstice has been honored with rituals that acknowledge both the depth of winter darkness and the promise of returning light. As we stand at this turning point of the year, we pause to honor the rhythms of the Earth, to welcome the lengthening days, and to find meaning in the quiet stillness that winter brings.

December Worship Theme: Reverence
With prayerful awareness, we open our senses to the sacred woven through all of life: the earth, ancient stories, the mysteries of birth and of light returning in dark times. Reverence calls us to gratitude and wonder. Reverence asks us to let our hearts break open to love and service. In a world rife with disrespect and contempt, can we honor the holiness in all things and devote ourselves to living, acting, and seeing the world with reverence?
