We often reserve reverence for the extraordinary or the mysterious. Yet, we can also appreciate the inherent worth and beauty of everyday moments–the gestures, pauses, and encounters that make up our daily lives. How might we attune our bodies, minds, and spirits to notice these ordinary moments with awe, gratitude, and deep respect? Music will feature the UCM choir singing Splendor of Day, with music by G.F. Handel and words by Walt Whitman.
December Worship Theme: Reverence
With prayerful awareness, we open our senses to the sacred woven through all of life: the earth, ancient stories, the mysteries of birth and of light returning in dark times. Reverence calls us to gratitude and wonder. Reverence asks us to let our hearts break open to love and service. In a world rife with disrespect and contempt, can we honor the holiness in all things and devote ourselves to living, acting, and seeing the world with reverence?
