October 20, Lessons from the Garden

I am about to harvest our last tomatoes and a few remaining flowers.  In this time of change and anxiety, what lessons might the garden have to teach us about letting go of resentments, losses of loved ones and limits on what we can do as we age, while still being open to the beauty that surrounds us and the possibilities that await.  Music will include the UCM Choir singing Deep Peace, by Bill Douglas.

Here is an introduction from Rev. Patience: I am a (mostly) retired UU parish and community minister who is also a CASA volunteer Guardian ad Litem. I live in Alstead with my husband on 20 acres of fields, woods, gardens and a small vineyard.  In the past four decades I have served the NH and VT area in several capacities including as a settled, interim and consulting parish minister, a Hospice and Hospital chaplain, a licensed pastoral therapist, and more recently as a congregational consultant.  I have two adult children, one of whom just got married and turned our unused horse barn into a beautiful home. My once retired husband Jim has decided this year to run for the NH House.
